Participants can run, walk or roll at Lake Mary Prep, or take part in the 2026 Lake Scary 5K from home for the first time this year. Proceeds help support inclusive education, therapy services and family support at UCP Seminole Campus, which serves children with and without disabilities.
Organized by students at Lake Mary Prep, the in-person Halloween-themed race welcomes individuals and teams in costume, with prizes for best dressed. In-person participants will receive a t-shirt and spooky finisher medal.
“Lake Scary 5K brings together students, families, neighbors and people of all ages from across our community,” said Dr. Ilene E. Wilkins, CEO and President of UCP. “Whether they join us in Lake Mary or take part from home, they’re helping children of all abilities learn, grow and unlock their potential.”
The Lake Scary 5K was founded by a pair of friends, one of whom has cerebral palsy. Since its inception in 2012, the event has raised more than $115,000 for UCP of Central Florida.
Registration is $35 for either the in-person race or the Run from Home option. The in-person registration price is scheduled to increase after October 24th.
